Mentorship Re-Imagined
Becoming HER with Vera Lee Bird | A Beautifully Honest & Magical Sort of Life Coaching
How can you be the kind of woman you know the world needs — and that you need — you to be right now?
-
Dream of her.
The Morrigan didn’t become the enchanting force of nature she is by accident. It started by noticing and coming to know the type of person she did (and did not) want to be. To become the her you dream of being, you’ll have to really know and understand yourself first.
-
Nurture her.
Understanding is nearly meaningless without action… and one thing women know well is the importance of not just one grand action, but consistent small gestures over time. How you nurture what you know about yourself and the dream you hold for the world will determine when and how it comes to manifest in the world beyond you.
-
Become her.
Once you’re aware of who you’ve come to be and you have a rhythm of nurture and grace to keep yourself growing, your sparkle is going to shine brighter naturally. All that’s left is for you to let yourself feel the light within and all around you - and perhaps to become comfortable receiving the love and light and strength those who love you wish to pour back into you. Becoming her is becoming a part of something bigger than yourself.
Before we go any further… I’ve seen a lot of mentorship pages and I can’t stand that feeling of dread as you get closer to the end knowing there’s some $2,500-6,000 price tag with a $999/month payment option coming at the end.
So let me just say: I’m not going to end this page with a five-digit price tag.
I’m also not going to make you book an appointment to find a price range for my services. There’s a section toward the bottom talking about price, but the bottom line?
$300 is what I ask for my mentorship.
I find the game of sales and marketing exhausting at times. I’m a human being. You’re a human being. It’s likely neither of us is filthy rich, and that’s actually probably a fine quality for two people to have, if you ask me. My bottom line is about love, not cash. Maybe that gets me in trouble sometimes, but I believe it’s trouble worth having.
I love this work. I want it to cost enough that it means something to you and you’ll take it seriously — and I also want my work to put a roof over my head, food in my belly, toys in my puppy’s bed, and keep my artists housed and fed.
Nothing about that requires fancy high-end five-figure private coaching costs.
Let’s make some magic together like the real people we are, yeah?
It’s the time of the enchantress, if you ask me.
You know the one, right? The Morrigan, the Feyre, the Elsa, the Merida, the Nyam, the Meera, the Elaine, the Luna.
The women who are brave enough to look a painful truth in the eye and strong enough to overcome discomfort and embrace disappointment when that’s what it takes to take care of those she loves. She’s the one who can’t sit still when she sees injustice being done. She’s the one who stands up when necessary, who offers the fullest hugs and the understanding looks in the hardest of times.
Every woman I know has a beautiful vision in her mind of the world she wants to see.
Most of these visions include elements of herbalism, gardening, baking, spending time in the heart of nature, and using her voice and creative talents to create an impact and express love into the world around her. She recognizes the power of nature around her, the power of emotion and creativity within her, and the power of love in the community around her.
In a world where taxes, debt, insurance, inflation, assault, divorce, and collective grief are daily realities…
Becoming her doesn’t have a clear path.
If you’re honest, I bet some days, being her doesn’t even feel possible.
That’s so hard.
But I promise it is possible.
I’m 28 years old. And maybe that doesn’t seem very old, I don’t know anymore. But I remember being 22 years old, seeing the ocean for the second time in my life… and preparing to take a leap. I moved away from my family, including my husband and dying marriage, and everything I had ever known, to live at the edge of the world in an RV by myself.
I didn’t know anything. But I knew I needed to make the journey. I wanted to write. I wanted to heal the wounds of the past, and I knew I was never meant to be in that dusty old place surrounded by people who had hurt me and let me down time and time again. I knew, as scared as I was to be on my own, that there was more in the world for me. And nobody was going to go out and get it for me!
I made the journey.
I broke free from the unhappy, irreparable marriage. I broke away from the toxic family ties. I healed old wounds in my mind and my body.
I wrote my first book! And then I wrote another… and another!
I built a business and traveled across the country — and to Europe!
I found epic love and lived dreamy romances… and then grieved and was reborn in the deaths of each love… and found more magic on the other side.
I learned about life, love, and this beautiful, magical world we live in.
I became a master certified herbalist.
I learned about Ayurveda and found a new way to nurture my mind and body.
I wrote more books.
In short, I lived.
And I still live. Nothing is perfect… nothing is permanent, and anyone who tells you different is definitely selling something fake that you don’t need. Life is messy and painful and bitter and broken and devastating at times. I feel lost and lonely some days. But there are other days too — days when I feel so alive I can’t remember the darkest places I’ve been. Days when I get to hug my beautiful friends and feel so overcome with joy and gratitude at the turns my life has taken. There are moments I fall in love with the world through my puppy’s eyes and there are times when the ocean waves crash into the sand and touch the depths of my soul. Can you say that you have truly lived? Are you alive right now?
I didn’t become me by accident.
Though perhaps it was through serendipity. Nonetheless, it started with knowing myself… What do I value, who am I, what are my priorities? How do I demonstrate my priorities and stay true to my values in my daily life? What does it really look and feel like to be who I am at my core?
These are the questions I had to ask myself to become me. They’re the questions and steps I still follow as I continue becoming each and every day… and they’re the collection of questions and journeys I’d like to walk through with you in my Becoming Her Mentorship program.
Are you looking for a mentor?
Becoming Her is my mentorship program… it’s sort of like a life coaching container, but it’s a little bit more down-to-earth than what you might be used to seeing. (As is the cost!)
It’s a six-week period of deep friendship and learning about and with one another.
So much of my joy and healing is marked by times when I had a true friend to listen and encourage me… And a key to every little victory has been being fiercely inspired and grateful at every opportunity to love the life right in front of me, exactly as it was.
(Not to brush over the tough things, because that doesn’t work. I’m not talking about toxic positivity here. I’m just saying there is so much beauty in the world.. and once I knew what I valued, I went seeking it out and said thank you every single time I found it.)
How Mentorship Works… & Pricing!
In our time together, we will get to know the deepest, rawest, most powerful you!
Did you ever do those copy-and-paste quizzes on Tumblr or MySpace? The ones where you go in and erase the last person’s answers and insert your own… and maybe put bits of sarcasm and beautiful honesty in the tags? We’re going to do some quizzes like that… except you won’t have to deal with the copy-and-paste or erasing stuff. I’ll just give you printables or online quizzes you can take.
I’ll show you how I love to make vision boards and we can do that together via Zoom (or even in person, depending on where in the world you are). We’ll talk about the assortment of tools I learned as a life coach and in my many years of therapy (as the client, I’m not a medical professional!) and see what sounds most fun for you to do as part of a ritual of continuing to grow and get to know yourself.
I’ll also bring nature into our time together — local plants and birds native to your area! Consider me your research assistant for the next six weeks as I gather information about the ways mother earth is flourishing near you and offer ideas for how to spend more time immersed in and appreciating nature from right where you are. As part of the getting-to-know-you aspect of our mentorship, I’ll share some herbal recipes and ideas for getting in touch with nature in ways that feel comfortable and easy to you.
We don’t want you having to overcome anxiety or procrastination every time you want to connect with nature, so making this all feel really natural and inspired is super important to me. (And hey, hesitation, anxiety, and procrastination are SO common, seriously! There’s no shame here at all. We’re just going to take steps to accommodate those tendencies so that you’re not in your own way of your own beautiful intentions, sound good?)
We’ll figure out your core values and outline your priorities — then do just a little life coaching.
Getting to know yourself through quizzes and games can be really fun and exciting! But what do you do once you have a clear picture of who you are and how you most want to show up in the world?
This is where things like time management, goal setting, budgeting, and socializing come into play. This is also probably the most ‘life coach-y’ part of the program. I have lots of worksheets that can help you learn how to prioritize tasks and projects, plan your time effectively, and learn to stick to a schedule and budget. If worksheets aren’t your thing, we’ll talk it through and find ways to build strategy around things you’re already using — like apps on your phone, email reminders, accountability buddies, and fun tools like Notion.
Finally, we’re going to talk about expression and being your whole self around other people.
I wish it was as easy as getting to know yourself and then going out and being her… But I know it can be more challenging than that. Sometimes old patterns and behaviors are really stuck, and it can be hard to show a new or deeper part of yourself to people who have known you prior to all of the work and play we’re going to do together.
In this next phase of mentorship, I’m going to help you find ways to bring your beautiful fullest self out into the open around people in your life — both new people and those you’ve known and loved forever.
I’m going to love hearing about your experiences with community, friendship, family, and education… I’m going to ask you about your library… and together we’re going to plan some activities that feel gooooood to you. (No big scaries, I promise. Unless you want them. Then I’ll help you with that, too!)
You’ll be learning about nature around you with updates from my research including gorgeous plant and bird monographs explaining the basic things you can know about each creature… and a little short story! This is going to be a super easy conversation piece you can bring into any situation you want, and you’ll have something to show and something to say about it to take all of the pressure off of you.
I’m also going to share some creative templates with you so that you can put together your own creations and projects, if you want to. These can be made into printables, used as inspiration for hand-created art like paintings, sketches, sculptures, crochet babies, plant-art, and more, or shared online. This part is really fun and it gives you something really beautiful to treasure, show off, and look back on from this incredible journey.
So… I guess I should probably tell you how much this costs, right?
Look, I’ll be honest with you. I’m a real person and my life doesn’t fit into a corporate inventory or payment schedule. I like it that way. This is a new offering in my business and I’m hoping it will help me to make some important financial steps in my life — addressing debt, replacing my poor little car who has been so very good to me and is also simply not safely operable anymore, getting me to my baby sister’s wedding this summer, and keeping a roof over my head and food in my sweet puppy’s belly.
In short: I don’t want the cost of this program to be a barrier to anyone who wants to do it right now. As demand increases and my free time is less abundant, I will increase the rates.
I’m asking for $300 for six weeks of mentorship but…
The mentorship program includes 6 weekly Zoom meetings, ongoing email and text support (text via Whatsapp or Instagram), printable worksheets and surveys, two hours per week of research on your local plant and bird life as well as parks and nature-immersive areas near you, and up to twelve plant and bird monographs delivered to you in beautiful printable designs by the end of our six weeks together.
I’m asking for $300, but if that’s a barrier, I want you to go ahead and book a mentorship Q&A with me anyway. Make me an offer and let’s see what we can do, because personally, I am in a position where every little bit helps and I do have the time to share with you. I would love nothing more than to do this work with you, and I think we’re going to create some really important ripples in the world from this time together.
And that, my beautiful friend, is everything I can tell you about the Becoming Her Mentorship Program right now. If you have questions (and I hope you do!), please book a Q&A with me. Even if you’re not sure, hearing your questions will help me answer them for others, and I’d love to meet you.
